During my experience, the service was very friendly and home-like. I ordered clams and took the recommendation of the slaw and beans.

The clams were not any better or worse than the average clam dinner. As for the other "main events", I wasn't a fan of the slaw (predominantly cabbage and yes, I was told it didn't include mayo) and the beans were a surprise (pinto beans) as I am from the south- these are not BBQ beans and were not heated well enough for my taste. The restaurant itself needs attention to cleanliness and updating of environment, including the parking lot.

I won't be returning but I would say I received friendly service from the lone lady working at Jim's Fish Fry so on balance, it's slightly above average for that reason.

Old time fish fry and more! Get the scallops, and the frog legs! This is an old time fish fry hangout born out of the industrial days of old Syracuse, and preserved by locals now. The neon sign outside has faded away, you can't make out the name on the sign, and the place is not something to talk about, but if you are looking for a no nonsense fish fry with great people who talk to you like they have known you for years, or want to know you like you are the rock star who just moved into town, Melissa and Georgia will make you feel that way instantly when they bring you those overflowing plates of food you ordered. What I love about the food is that, just like the place, the food is also unpretentious. Never heavy on the salt, they strictly believe that you can always add more salt to your personal taste, but they can't take it out. Will be back!

Small cozy place. Staff was nice (only one lady) did a great job doing everything.
Food was good had fish and chips with Mac salad and beans dinners. Flavor was nice and everything seasoned well. Meal was hot and fresh.

Surprise...FANTASTIC omelet. Great coffee. I would never have thought of that place for breakfast. Quiet, quick and friendly. Loved it. And because it was quiet we stayed 2.5 hours.

Jim's Fish Fry is one of the best food establishments in Syracuse. If you leave hungry, it's your own damn fault. Portions are HUGE and the food is all delicious. I've been going there for over 50 years and none of the recipes have changed. They do a fantastic job and we love having them as a backbone of Syracuse. 75 years in business in the same family. Says something for their work ethic. Thank you for being ours.
