Doug's Fish Fry

Doug's. What more can I say? This place is an absolute icon of Central New York. Always the freshest, tastiest fish and great sides. Was well worth standing in line for 30 minutes to just get in the door. The atmosphere inside is definitely part of the charm, from the fish tank separating the dining room from the order line, to the large scale model railroad circling the dining room, to all of the news articles, customer letters, and photos lining the walls. Absolutely worth a stop whenever passing through Skaneateles.

We always enjoy going to Doug's Fish Fry. You get what you expect to get- FISH. Yet, there is so much more. It is an Experience!!! Come as you are; dressed for a wedding or in your work clothes. Travel to get there, as it is a beautiful trip and well worth it.

One of my favorite places for any type of fried seafood! Great coleslaw and fries( if you're into the fresh cut type). If you're planning on going on a Friday be prepared for a wait, maybe even up the block! But that shows how good it is and the line moves fast. Only complaint is that the lobster bisque is hit or miss, sometimes it's the best, then others you're scratching your head wondering if it's the same place.

Doug's is famous for its fish and home made fries for good reason. They're delicious! Try and you'll see why it's so popular. The outdoor seating is great on nice days too.

Our long-time favorite restaurant in Skaneateles. Fish sandwich platter feeds two, although The portion seems not quite as generous as it used to be (or as large as the fish sandwich portion at the Blarney Stone in Syracuse). Clams are pretty good too, although one of us got a ball of incompletely cooked batter in the middle of theirs. Fries tend to be soggy. Request them fried crisp. Custard is always great. The atmosphere is typically busy and a bit noisy except off-season or in mid-week. The staff is super friendly and funny. That usually have a good selection of draft beers. Definitely still a favorite.
