Caracas Arepa Bar (Summer Only)

I wish i could have given this place five stars but its so yuppy beachy that the patrons turned me off. I won’t say its the locals because these were mainly kids (35 and under) who for some reason congregate in place like this during the summer only to show off. It didn’t feel real and therefore i couldn’t tell you if the food was authentic or even good. It was okay, i sat down, got a beer, ordered and literally scarfed my food down because the patrons are all posturing for a picture on instant gratification /Fakebook and of course it reminded me that they are really Twits who think that taking photos means something when you have no clue what you are really seeing or if you are even present for the moment because all i heard from most of the young twits in this place is ‘let’s take a selfie’ How can you about a picture when the ocean is front of you? This is where dreams are made. Where miracles can be talked of. The sheer beauty is ignored for posturing????

So this is my proposal and it has nothing to dd with this restaurant is that we all send Merriam Webster a tweet asking that they change the definition of selfish to include selfies. How the hell do you take selfies when you don’t even know yourself?

Back to the food before i continue ranting. The beer was spot on cold, the food was okay, its what you expect in a place that is patronized by Twits who look for instantgratification when they post to fakebook media accounts.

Will I ever return -of course every summer, because hey I usually walk from beach 25 to Jacob Riis to enjoy the majestic majesty that the creator created.

Loved to Arepa. Loved sitting under the sun cover and listening to the great music. Order at one of the cash registers. Then save your receipt, because they ask to see it when you pick up your food. The corn flour Arepa is temperature hot when it comes out.

Considering there is no competition, I was pleasantly surprised that the food was tasty. I had rice & beans and sweet plantains. I had to ask for hot sauce for the rice & beans, and although it wasn't spicy, it was flavorful & delicious! Prices are reasonable. Service was good.

good vege food. their corn patty is awesome! their plantains are amazing! Music is way too loud - it’s on because it invites booze business ????. The coffee on the side area , operated independently, is really good (french pressed). The shakes are great and over priced. Overall good place to grab and run out ????!!!!

Caracas are you calling me back to you? Yes I will be back. So much love. We went to Caracas on a weekday and it made our day. My Venezuelan friend bought so many cheese sticks to go. And I want to live nearby already.
