The Steam Room

I’ve been going to this place since I was s kid (30 years ago). Including the Port Jefferson area as a whole, The Steam Room has always been consistently fun and casual.

Lobster rolls, baked clams and mussels are my usual favorites and are now my kids’!

During good weather the outside eating area is always the best.

It’s basically self-serve where you order from a window and pick it up shortly after. I usually leave a few bucks for the people who clean up the table after.

No fuss, just quick and delicious seafood.

Although pretty small, I love how airy this restaurant is. The food is fresh, savory and adequately priced. The menu is predominantly sea food but there is something for everyone. The staff has always been nice and helpful. The place has always been clean and you are right by the water with the windows open. It's a very unique place that I will definitely return to.

As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with the upmost respect and attentive service, especially for what is really a fast casual restaurant. All staff members are very kind and courteous: serving food to your table and looking out for any other accommodations. The menu has a wide selection of seafood and non-seafood options. The food itself is excellent. The Lobster Roll is definitely worth the few extra bucks, surprisingly filling and the bread itself is prepared as a nice compliment to the meaty lobster filling. And its location is prime, overlooking the docks with plenty of parking. Overall fantastic experience.

A place I've been coming back to for 40+ years. That should tell you something. Not overly pricey for the area. decent portions. It will probably be there till the end of time. its practically become a landmark

Kind of a diner-y feel mixed with a fast-food restaurant. Don't get me wrong, the food is very good. There are lots of varieties of seafood, some sandwiches, some larger plates. The presentation is very simple, nothing fancy, but you don't really mind. They also serve soups, and some beer/wine, in addition to soft drinks. A nice place to stop in for a quick bite, when walking around the "village."
