Monks on the Commons

My aunts and I just went in for a drink after shopping downtown - amazing craft cocktails that are priced like wine!! I loved my Monk Gin Fizz. We had great service from Jewelle, who was so down to earth in what you might think is a very fancy establishment. Definitely stop by for a drink!

Very hearty and healthy breakfast. Love their waffle. Bit slow on service though.

For me, the service was mixed. One day I ordered an omelette and ask for the potatoes to be substituted with a salad and it was no problem and it was delicious. The server was gracious and the meal looked elegant. A few days later it was earlier in the day and when I asked for salad instead of potatoes I was told that the salad bar had not been setup yet so I had a plain omelette. The server was pleasant but did not understand service well enough to make accommodations or offer solutions such as double veggies in my omelette or some other substitution. They even used the giant plate that would have had room for potatoes and toast so The Omelette looked tiny and sad all alone on the white plate.

Monks is amazing. They have a wonderful list of wines, spirits and local beers. I highly recommend for anyone visiting, looking for a nicer meal with great service. Very unique.
