This restaurant was simply amazing and our waiter, Hank was very attentive. He had excellent recommendations and went above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was special. This restaurant is highly recommended! Great food, wine, staff and ambiance.
Brunch is a bargain... Or perhaps afternoon tea? If time is sparing, then afternoon tea will hit the spot. The hospitality will make you come back to spend a weekend here... Even longer, dare I say. Great memories and a truly unique setting. #auric
The very best place for dinner, great views, everyone is friendly and helpful...
Before the review:
You do NOT have to pay the $70 entrance fee in order to access the restaurant. Just tell the front gate that you have reservations (which you should make). You'll be on the list. This can easily be confirmed by simply calling the restaurant.
5 course meal review:
The 5 course meal was the best. Up front, I'll say that we actually enjoyed 10 courses per person. There were 5 main courses, 4 complimentary tastings (one or two bites each) between main courses, and of course an assortment of breads and butter to start. Do yourself a favor and choose the tiny potato bread bites if given the option. They are delightful.
Everything about the dishes was the perfect quantity, and very creatively prepared and plated. The 'egg in a nest' was a pleasure to look at and eat. Every ingredient and placement of the dish was perfect.
The restaurant is located below the hotel and lounge with great views of the mountains and estate grounds. Although the noise level is low, an overheard piano from the lounge above contributed to the ambiance.
Cocktails were not included in the price, but were very creative and tasty. Servers and staff were extremely attentive, and always in the right place at the right time. They never let a water glass empty, and made things look effortless. They also took the time to explain the dish when presenting it.
The overall experience was very much worth the $150+ per person price tag. One thing to note is that this is not a quick meal. We spent around 3 hours at the table. Would certainly go again.
