Jack of the Wood

Great service! We were there for 2 min the waitress brought us water and menus. Within 20 min we had our food and drinks. They were packed because they had live music but the wait staff stayed on top of everything. The food was great all of it including the coleslaw and tartar sauce made from scratch. Far far far better than there competition Charlotte Street Grill and Pub.

Great food. Arugula salad fab. Really good Shepard pie with ground lamb. Lots of local Beer on tap. Great prices for downtown. Fun local band of sorts playing bluegrass, with more joining in after 9 for jam session on a Thurs. Pm. Our server/bartender Austin was absolutely the Best. So polite and such a fast and good worker. It's like many establishments since covid/and now employee shortage: you scan the bar code, get up and order and they bring it (promptly!) to your table. All Good!!

My wife and I have been visiting Asheville for over 20 years and always enjoy our stops at Jack of the Wood. Great food, beer, service and live music. During our most recent trip there a couple of weeks ago we stopped in every day. Melissa was our bartender each time and she was fantastic. We only ate there once this trip but the food was great as usual. We went for the live music on Friday and Saturday and were not disappointed. Fun place!

Went for Bluegrass Brunch and had an awesome time. Very friendly staff, prompt service and food was great. Music was awesome.... This is not a full service restaurant....you place your order for food and drinks at the bar, get your drinks at bar and they bring out your food to your table Its a MUST visit. There was a little issue with a person sneaking in alcohol and trying to smoke in the place....the waiter as well as manager/host handled the situation gracefully....very impressed. Thank you Jack of the Wood....we will return.

Would put zero but cant. Went here found a table pretty quick. However, the service was really poor. Could have been just a fluke time of day 3 o clock on sat. Ordered two beers. After waiting fifteen min we left. 11.02.19

Update: gave it another go around, this time was a remarkable improvement. We were seated right away, and ordered some food and drinks. Spent about 1.5 hrs here. They had live music also which was very good.
