Bogue House Restaurant

We visited for the first time today. It's a simple place with traditional NC coastal BBQ and fried seafood or chicken. The chicken salad I had was lacking a bit in flavor - kind of bland. The desserts looked good, but we didn't have any. The only non-caffinated beverages were root beer and orange soda. Not a place for vegetarian plates. Overall, an okay place to eat but not a place I'd seek out again.

Our go to place to bring out of town company to. Always great food and very generous portions. Had the chicken and shrimp special today and ate until I almost burst and still have a full meal for lunch tomorrow.

Love this place! Great food with quick, friendly service. All of the seafood that I've tried is fantastic. If you like good, Southern fried seafood, give Bogue House a try.

Don't let the humble exterior fool you, nor the humble interior, the food is excellent! For the quality and quantity, the price is right. The stew is well flavored, the BBQ is moist and tender. The popcorn shrimp wasn't dry and better flavored than most. The fried okra has a light crust to hold the fry but lets the okra taste and texture come through. A gem in the rough type a place and I see why the locals eat here.

What an amazing place and thank goodness for my fellow Google reviewers for pointing me to this gem. Amazing comfort food and seafood at great prices. Love the old school feel. Went here and it was extremely packed and lots of locals and I can see why. The catfish was amazingly flaky and the shrimp were amazing. I couldn't tell what was in the green beans, but it was so good. Loved the perfectly done hush puppies. But let me tell you about the service. We were featured friendly as was every customer, even as busy as they were they still were able to fill ice, fill ice tea (which was going super fast) and were able to bus tables. I only saw 2 people working. I was totally amazed that even without take service we were checked on. I totally would say that you need some outdoor seating to take advantage of the view and the weather and allow more customers to sit, but it was so good and will be my go to for comfort food for now on.
