Amazing place to eat. The early bird special is such a money saver. Shrimp and grits is wonderful as the ribs. Their mashed potatoes are fantastic. Love this place. Next time we are in the Outer Banks we will return!
The she crab soup was heavenly. It was seasoned to perfection. Every spoonful was filled with big lumps of crab meat. The best she crab soup I've ever tasted. ????♥️
Some of the best food in the OBX. Popular, so a long wait for a table. Outside bar and music on the deck while you wait. They bring fresh baked bread when you are seated. Sound views are great but no sunset views. Generous portions. Save room for amazing desserts.
The wait time is absouletly worth it! We couldn't believe how delicious the food was!! It was fast and tasted fresh!! Definitely a fine dining restaurant, dress nicer if you don't want funny looks (we were not dressed up enough when we went) but once the food hit our table that was the last thing we thought about. 100% recommend!!
My husband and I stopped here at the suggestion of a local. Was he ever right about this place. The food was over the top good!! We visited Cape Cod 3 months ago and ate clam chowder every day but the clam chowder here at Tale of the Whale was even better than what we had in Cape Cod!!! I had a pasta dish that was superb!!! The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauce was full of flavor. My husband had a seafood platter. It was not piled high like some places but he was satisfied when he finished eating. His fried seafood was lightly breaded so you tasted the seafood not the breading. We will definitely go back there to eat the next time we are in the area.
