The Dough Shack

To be honest, I just walked into the store to check the place out. Looks like they're making their own donuts and they're on pizzas with homemade crust. The pizza looks absolutely amazing and the donuts look good. I wish I had an opportunity to buy some food at the store. If I were to do that I probably would have gone for the pizza instead of the donuts but that's just the way I lean.

We’re in the Outer Banks for spring break & wanted something for breakfast for my daughter’s birthday. We decided to get pizza for dinner & got donuts for the next morning. The pizza & cheese curds were delicious & the donuts still tasted fresh the next morning for my daughter’s 13th birthday breakfast! Pizza and donuts are 2 of my favorite foods & these were some of the best I have ever had! The pizza and curds went so fast I didn’t even have time to get a picture! We would definitely recommend!

Finding restaurants open during the off season is hard. Luckily The Dough Shack is one of the few opened during the off season in Waves, NC. You can call in your order for pick up but do yourself a favor and drive to the restaurant to place your order. You will meet two of the nicest people on the island and you’ll get to see your pizza hand tossed from fresh dough before your eyes. During the short fifteen minute wait for our large supreme and fried mozzarella sticks, the phone never stopped ringing for orders. One particular order was for someone who wouldn’t have made it to the restaurant before it closed. Instead of turning the person away, the owner said he would wait for them before closing. That is going above and beyond in customer service. The person ended up ordering three large pizzas. So if you happen to be in Waves, NC whether on or off season, treat yourself to some delicious local hand thrown pizza by the owner of The Dough Shack. Oh, and get a donut while you wait. The Oreo donut is everything.

Not MY favorite but it might me yours! The pizza was very bland to me and had too much crust. I only wanted 1 piece but my husband likes it so I gave the 4 stars. The donuts were fine. (With the exception on the key lime donut it was very good!) The chocolate stripes tasted like Hershey chocolate syrup and that was a little strange. The male worker was very nice.

Love this place. Both the pizzas and donuts were amazing. They weren't just good for the beach they were good for anywhere. They also have a really good gluten-free pizza. Make sure to order early in the day as sometimes they get bought out.
