“Finding restaurants open during the off season is hard. Luckily The Dough Shack is one of the few opened during the off season in Waves, NC. You can call in your order for pick up but do yourself a favor and drive to the restaurant to place your order. You will meet two of the nicest people on the island and you’ll get to see your pizza hand tossed from fresh dough before your eyes. During the short fifteen minute wait for our large supreme and fried mozzarella sticks, the phone never stopped ringing for orders. One particular order was for someone who wouldn’t have made it to the restaurant before it closed. Instead of turning the person away, the owner said he would wait for them before closing. That is going above and beyond in customer service. The person ended up ordering three large pizzas. So if you happen to be in Waves, NC whether on or off season, treat yourself to some delicious local hand thrown pizza by the owner of The Dough Shack. Oh, and get a donut while you wait. The Oreo donut is everything.”

“The ABSOLUTE BEST New York strip steak I have EVER had. Period. and the avocado crab dip is beyond good! It’s not real large in size. Max capacity, at our time of visiting, was 68. I’m in a wheelchair, and everyone went out of their way for my accommodations. The bartender, when we were there, poured a strong mixed drink but delicious! I highly recommend visiting. The price is completely worth the deliciousness of the food!! We were there in August at about 5:30pm. You have a beautiful view of the sunset! Highly recommended!!”

“BEST RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO! I don’t usually leave reviews but this place deserves one. I wish I could rate it higher than 5 stars. My boyfriend and I went here for dinner last night and the service, food and atmosphere were all a 10 out of 10. Best burger I have ever had and best shrimp my boyfriend has ever had. Did not get any drinks but from what I saw, they all looked amazing. There are many different food options and as someone who doesn’t eat fish, I was pleasantly surprised with how many options they had besides seafood. The food came out very quickly from the kitchen which was great. Extremely friendly staff. Definitely recommend this place if you want to watch the sunset. Could not stop smiling the whole time I was there. Will have to come back again some day!”

“This is by far the cleanest most friendly restaurant I have ever been to! Literally I’m in awe over how I cannot find one piece of dust or dirt in this restaurant! The staff- so stinking nice!!! I feel like we could go hang out with them after dinner! And the food… not only do they have a wide array of pizza options but they’re really good! You can tell their sauce is homemade and it’s all made with love. Also, they have the good ice!”

“The Spare Ribs were cooked perfectly, very tender and juicy, and expertly seasoned with interesting and complex spices and flavors. The noodles were amazingly flavorful. The Macaroni Salad was out of this world...best I've ever had, different but familiar. The owner was very nice. You can tell that this man loves what he does. I hope that he is truly living his dream. Do not pass this place by. 5 Stars.”
