Pour your own beer spot located under the Unscripted in downtown Durham. Patrons receive a bracelet they scan at taps and the cab choose beer of choice and pour as much as they want. They have a large selection and a smaller selection for wines. Great for someone who wants to sample different types. Can get very crowded. Has decent amount of seating. You have to check in at counter to get bracelet and then out there to return bracelet and pay. This can be a slow process when crowded. They also have food offerings to snack on while there.
We really enjoyed visiting here on our visit around Durham. The only 2 suggestion we would make, is to have someone near the beer explaining to us newbies how it works. And let us know if foam comes out, end of the barrel, you throw it out, you get charged.
We both drank about same amount, but my husband's wrist band rang up like $4 more. He had a few glasses of foam. A customer standing their told us we'd be charged. I guess you have to tell someone the Barrel is empty.
But we'll be back and try again. Skip the foam????
My Oh My, am I in heaven? I absolutely loved this place, it is a must for beer lovers. Pour Taproom has done it right. From the cleanliness to the outdoor area, so many beers so little time. You self pour with a chipped wristband. Only thing I didn't care for was having to reset the wristband after 32 ounces. Every single person here was so friendly even the musician playing outside.
A fun atmosphere with a great selection of beer, and a serve yourself set up. Patrons put a card on file then they can taste as much or as little as they would like. The outdoor area is a great spot for enjoying the weather while taking in some scenery from a revamped Durham. A short walk from the Parlor if you'd enjoy a sweet treat after your beverage!
New idea and definitely the selection of beers are good. They have at least 5-7 beers in each category. I like the way you pay for every oz you drink. In that way, no one waste their beers ! It also paves a way for someone who wants to just walk in and taste some beers(like I did - I did 4 beers in the Ale section). They have good number of board games and a couple of screens that play ESPN/(others). I haven't tried their food.
