I was pretty sad to see the last restaurant that was here go, but man, was this delicious and a great new option. Most of their menu items seemed to be noodle soups, but that’s kind of what I was looking for. They did have non-soup options as well, but far fewer. It also seemed very authentic and not too dumbed down or Americanized.

I ordered the salt and pepper shrimp as an appetizer, which was straight forward but very good. I liked the hot pepper seasoning that came with it. Wish it came with a sauce, but I dipped it in my soup from my entree. For my entree I ordered the beef noodle soup, which was braised beef. The portion was solid, with lots of noodles, and the beef was faaaaantastic, delicious and perfectly cooked to wear it just melts in your mouth. The broth was so good I couldn’t stop eating it when I felt full. I asked to make it extra spicy and the accommodated. I thought the prices were reasonable and the staff were kind and efficient. Service was quick, super cute and clean atmosphere. I’m excited to come back and try some more!!!

Service was pretty good. Food overall was very ok. The thing that bugged me the most was the soup base. It felt like it was water with some sort of powder/ flavoring.

Service was great, and they even you a reusable takeout bag. Ordered beef with bamboo shoots - portion size was decent, beef was tender, bamboo shoots and overall taste profile was just sort of salty. Mango pomelo sago was good though. I wouldn’t mind coming back and trying the drinks and desserts.
I was initially concerned about food poisoning given the other reviews, but I didn’t have any GI issues after eating here ….

Upon recommendation by Bites of the Bull, we had dinner at Wheat. We are sad Secrets closed but the addition of Wheat to Ninth Street continues the tradition of great Asian cuisine. Walking into the restaurant, we are greeted by a remodeled interior that has a low keyed chic vibe. The restaurant almost has an Asian cafe feel with a cold display case that housed homemade desserts prepared daily so make sure to get there early. We quickly picked out our desserts before even being seated. Once seated, we perused the menu. The menu is bilingual and a quick glance of the restaurant had mostly Asian patrons. Clearly they knew just how good Wheat is. We started with appetizers of fried dough with condensed milk and scallion pancakes. Both offerings were hot and delicious. For the entrees, I settled upon the House Special Pork Belly Noodle Soup and the husband got noodles with scallion oil and a side of minced chicken with mushrooms. The soup was rich and flavorful while the seared pork belly melted in my mouth. The minced chicken with mushrooms was well seasoned and paired expertly with the noodles and scallion oil. With full bellies, we opted to take our desserts home. The cheesecake was decadent and very rich while the strawberry cake was light and delicious. All in all, Wheat exceeded all expectations so much so we decided to return for another meal while eating the first.
