Dawn's Cafe

Great place. Great people. Great food. There's something to be said about "diner appeal" and "small town hole in the wall" eateries and Dawn's Cafe exceeds expectations each time I go. It definitely helps being right across the street from my office.

First time eating here today good burgers.. can't wait to try to breakfast

As you drive down Baker St, cutting through High Point on your way somewhere else, you’ll pass this small white cinder block building trimmed in red surrounded by cars. Now when parking at a small cafe becomes a challenge, that’s usually a good sign. So after several drive-bys, I can’t stand it anymore and pull in for lunch. While photographing the outside, a lady sticks her head out the door and asks why am I taking pictures of her building. After assuring her I’m not with the county tax office and just want to show people where I went for lunch, she invited me in. I was the last customer of the day as they close at 1:30. Now I love a good diner and I like supporting local even more. And the food lived up to expectations. This is no frills, but as friendly as it comes. I’m eating my way through the menu and breakfast might be their specialty. I haven’t had the grits so I can’t say, but the burgers, chicken club, even the Rueben was good. They open early and close the same. Lunch is busy as some regulars have reserved places at the counter. Besides the food, this is just a slice of Americana that’s worth the experience. It's a nice little cafe! It has a down home country feel! The food is good and the people are very nice!

Dawn is really nice. I stop by here every morning to get an ice water because I walk to work. She has always been very nice and associates with anyone that walks in her place. I love this place. Don't forget her shrimp they are the bestest...
