Restaurant Constance

We moved her from Austin and have become very particular regarding excellent food. We made reservations and were very pleased with our experience. Thank Chef Sam Diminich for creating a fantastic community of delicious food. We are thankful you are here and will be back again soon.

Intentional is the first word that comes to mind when I recall my dinner this evening at Restaurant Constance. From the beautiful tableware thoughtfully handmade by Katy Lane Clay to the food and beverage pairing we were in awe. The tuna crudo literally melts in your mouth and is the perfect start to the experience. We also had the best dumplings I’ve ever had in my life - the dumpling wrapper was perfect and the sauce rounded it out. Do not sleep on their salads - we had the kale salad and I can say as a non kale eater that I would get this again in a heartbeat. For my main course I ordered the steak and it was perfectly cooked and the flavor was divine. We finished the meal with the oatmeal dessert and it was moist and flavorful - we had the dessert beverage pairing which made the dessert taste of peach cobbler. Almost every course had a table side interaction which added to the overall experience and thoughtfulness that is Restaurant Constance.

Let me preface this by saying I’ve 10+ years of restaurant experience and done every job in the industry. It is extremely difficult, especially these days, to have a perfect opening night. We went on night 1 and this was very nearly perfect. The service, the food, wentworth and fenns desserts 🤌🤌🤌. I have eaten all over the world and Charlottes restaurant scene has been struggling massively since Covid. No longer. This place is about to take off if they continue what I experienced on opening night. They did it all without an alcohol menu too. Props to chef Sam and his staff. Erika, our server was a pro. All around the best joint in Charlotte right now. (And it was opening night?!?!)

Thank you Chef Sam Diminich! You’ve really created something special here. Great ingredients, precise execution, and a sense of purpose. You nailed it. In a city where atmosphere seems to come at the expense of putting great food on the table, you managed to compromise on nothing. An accessible and intimate environment coupled with farm-forward and seasonal-centric ingredients makes for a rare find in a city that hasn’t quite found its culinary center. You’re paving the way with your clear point of view. We’ll see you again next month.

Straight phenomenal.
Atmosphere - 5/5 - Great music, great energy, simple. Clean. Nice.
Service - 5/5 - GREAT staff. Super accommodating, knowledgeable, and efficient. Chef is downright awesome.
Food - 5/5 - Chicken lettuce wraps app was so flavorful and different - yet comfortably familiar. Coffee rubbed pork chop was perfect and presentation was 5star. The chocolate torte was just undescribably good. Local food all grown on the restaurants farm apparently right here.

I literally cannot say enough good things about this place.
