BaoBao: Authentic Chinese Cuisine

I went for my uncle’s birthday this past Monday and it was pretty busy (mostly Caucasian people). The menu looked great and yet the first disappointment was that their signature xiao long bao were out. They make them by hand and they said they usually run out at lunch. The Sheng Jian Bao were really really good. Everything else felt very Americanized.for those that know what that means for food.
The pickled cucumbers were too soft, not crunchy as well as too sweet and not prickly enough. The spare ribs were too much ribs and sauce and not enough meat. The eggplants felt overly squished. The stir fry crispy noodles were tasty although too soggy so everything stuck together.
The pork belly was very good.
So you can tell it was kinda up and down. I don’t think I would go back since I know of so many other great places in the area.

This place seems really legit, way more so than the run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurant. I will definitely be coming back to try out more stuff.

I was a bit leery from some of the mixed early reviews, but maybe that was just typical new-restaurant woes? My one data point - I was served quickly, the staff were friendly, food came out pretty fast, and it was really good.

I think it's worth checking out.

Went for soft opening and it was pretty delish. Ordered a couple items and got the beef soup noodles. Pretty good, they just opened so keep in mind they’re still trying to figure out their groove but the staff was great. Will be coming back for sure!

Today I was invited to attend the pre-opening tasting event at BaoBao: Authentic Chinese Cuisine Huntersville.

The chief Daniel and Ariel are relocated from Northern California where they previously owned 3 successful authentic Chinese restaurants. The Manu is extensive and the gradients of the food are to a particularly high standard. The quality and tastes of every dish was outstanding, the spicy sichuan poached fish fillet, Kung pao chicken and braised eggplant with ground pork might have been the best meal I have ever been served. Highly recommended.

Absolutely the best Chinese restaurant in Charlotte.
