Good Experience - with a few suggestions : Been here a couple times and I would say the primary strength is drinks - surprising for an Irish Pub, I know. The food is good - not great - but I have a couple suggestions - 1) Way too much salt on everything. Get that you want people to drink more but WOW. 2) Food prices are high side for the area; a $15 hamburger given the current quality doesn't add up...step up the game and perhaps you could get there.
Food was so good! I had the lamb burger in the flavor was off the charts. My buddy had the reuben and he loved it too! This is Matthews done right. The renovations look amazing! 1000 times better than the old restaurant!
Excellent experience! The Irish Reuben was delicious...corned beef melted in mouth. Service was great and the set up of bar was offset for those that choose not to partake of alcoholic beverages. There is even a partitioned area for dining completely removed from bar area.
My mother lives in the Matthews area and we decided to take her out this weekend. She wanted to go to this restaurant because she had not been there yet and what a pleasure it was! I've seen a few reviews of people giving less than decent reviews about this Irish establishment, we had five people in our group and not one of us had a bad meal! The service was fantastic, the general manager visited the table several times, and we have nothing but good things to say about both the quality of food and quality of service. If you're in Matthews and haven't tried yet, I certainly would recommend.
Solid food, nothing stood out though. My wife had the Irish BLT. She liked it, didn't love it. In the sandwich's defense, it said made with Irish bacon, which if you've never had is far closer to ham then bacon. She had never had it and that's what she didn't like about it. I had the corned beef sandwich. The first half was great. I noticed on the second half that the bites that had sauce were really good but on the bites that didn't I could tell how bland the Corned beef was. Didn't have as much flavor as I would expect. Honestly didn't tasted corned. If I had only eaten half the sandwich I would probably have given it 5 stars but the second half brings it down to 3. Our friends both had lamb burgers and they said they were outstanding. We will give it another shot and try the lamb next time. A lot of other people have complained about the service. On that front, we had no problems. Our waitress was attentive and good natured. We didn't have to wait any longer than I would expect to on a Sunday night.
