Poe's Tavern - Wrightsville Beach

Edgar Allan Poe themed restaurant, with dishes and cocktails named after the author's works. We had a variety of burgers and they were excellent. The veggie burger wasn't just a frozen patty to accommodate vegetarians. It was fresh made with flavorful ingredients... great choice if you want a veg option. Not a compromise.

Excellent old fashioned too. The quality of the old fashioned usually correlates with the quality of the food!

Love the food, especially their Drunken Chili. Great atmosphere. One concern is cleanliness. Our menus were disgusting with food smudges on them. We brought this to the attention of our waitress, who promptly put them away to be used again. There were also french fries smashed into the floor by our table making the floor slippery. We also pointed this out and no one did anything.

Been to this place a few times over the years and it is reliably great. Their burgers are fantastic and so fresh. Their fries and onion strings are top notch. If you ever get to Wrightsville Beach do yourself a favor and try this place.

The Rue Morgue is more like French ferry nachos than a burger but it's seriously the best item on the menu. For being a burger centric restaurant they don't seem to have a middle ground between well done and rare. I ordered medium and it was quite rare; almost all pink. My wife ordered medium well and it was completely well with hardly any if any pink at all. I don't mind rare beef so I still ate it and enjoyed it but there's no reason there should be SUCH a drastic difference between medium and medium well at a place that specializes in burger.

THIS was a good burger. Cooked as ordered, large portion of good fries. Didn't like potato salad, but just a different style. Service was great and good prices.
