Love this place, such a great spot to pick up lunch. They also took a loss to shut down during self isolation to protect their staff. It’s important to me to support people who support their people.
Can’t wait to get back to their deli salads!!!
This is the first review I’ve ever left. This place was so good. I shared a tuna melt and a plain bagel with cream cheese with my sister and we were both very happy. As an NY native living in NC, this was just about as close to the real deal as I could get. 10/10 would come back
I've always wanted a restaurant where you can trust that the food will be great, the service solid and quick, and the prices reasonable. So when Deli Edison opened near my work, I had to try it out. Lucky for me, it checked all the boxes! I love that they are always sharing new recipes and creating items I have to come back to try again and again. Highly recommend!
I feel conflicted leaving this review so I'm going to preface it with a couple of facts first. Deli Edison had not been open for very long when I visited the place and for anyone that has never opened a restaurant before it is not a simple thing. I recognize this fact due to my time working in restaurants. They were also slammed the day we went.
I thought the food was good. Not great, but it had real promise. I've been to the Pig and I know what Sam and Co. can do. It took forever to order. The person working the register seemed fairly stressed and maybe that is why they were so cold and not welcoming. It took a long time to get food as well. Folks that ordered after us were not only getting food, but also apologies. We did not receive the same sort of treatment.
I had the Nonna which was tasty, but despite having salsa and pickled veg couldn't cut thought the amount of fat that the sandwich contained. It was literally swimming in fat. Maybe that is intentional, but I don't think it was. I also ordered a plain bagel with cream cheese to take home. When I ate it later that day I found a huge piece of plastic wrap in the cream cheese. It was just a really disappointing experience.
That being said, it was so busy I didn't want to engage the folks working to talk about my experience. But I didn't want to go to the internet and complain about it either so I called the shop. They were closed so I left a message and my phone number. That was January 12th. I still haven't heard back from them so I'm not sure if they got it or if they took any of the feedback I provided.
I want this place to succeed. I hope this review comes across that way. I will visit again and update this review. I hope the owners see this and see it as an opportunity because the lack of engagement in these reviewing platforms has always driven me crazy.
We attended the preview this morning for the bagel buffet. The bagel assortment was delicious as well as all of the fixings. We also sampled lemon scones, apple muffins and ginger cookies all which were delicious. Expectations are low for a soft opening and we were very pleasantly surprised. Pricing seems on par to low side for the high quality far and they are serving carrboro coffee roasters coffee. Once open this will definitely make it into our brunch/lunch rotation.
