Thai Garden Cuisine

We are vegetarian and were very happy to find such good options (dishes are available with tofu even though it isn't on the menu). The vegetables and herbs are incredibly fresh, most are grown by the owners. Janet (one of the owners) sent me home with a bunch of herbs she plucked outside her back door. We were unsure about the quirky decor at first, but once we spent some time with the hosts we loved it. We were passing through on our way home to Durham from the beach and are so happy we found Thai Garden! The food is excellent (though runs quite spicy, "medium" was smokin!) It's cash only, but there is an ATM inside.

I have eaten here several times, and the food is usually very good. We picked up some food yesterday and were quite disappointed. First of all, the wait time was quite a bit longer than stated.
The spring rolls were not just crispy but over-fried: dark brown and had a burnt flavor.
The Pad Thai was ordered "hot" but was very mild and not as flavorful as usually.
I also ordered some curry, and while I've had this before and it has always been very good, this time the only flavor is salt. I managed to eat about five bites but then had to throw the rest away.
If we have eaten in, I would have complained on the spot. but it was take out, and it was late, and I decided it is what it is. I am not sure if they have a new cook, or what happened.
This experience is very different from all the other food we had here before, and I will definitely give them another chance. But if this is the new quality of food, I will be going somewhere else.

This place has the best food. It is cooked fresh when ordered. Piping hot when it was served. Really delicious!! The restuarant itself is an older building but the man and his wife are so friendly and nice.

Love, love, love this restaurant! Food is delicious and authentic! The owners are great and friendly! Love all of the decorations and the homey feel. My daughter and I will miss it/them when we move. Note that they only accept cash.

Awesome. I can't say enough about this place. If you like thai it doesn't get more authentic than here! The staff is super friendly and the food is simply amazing. They will spice it up for you or tone it down if you're not the most adventurous in the hot pepper department! You'll love the food. Give it a try!
