So let me start off by saying I really wanted to like the food here, the owner is so pleasant and friendly. It snowed last night and they even wanted to make sure I went on the right road to get into their lot the easiest.
I ordered a large pepperoni, a large sausage onion green pepper, a sausage sub, a super jumbo sub, seasoned fries, and mozzarella sticks. All of this was $52 so not too bad there.
Now for the positives:
Obviously customer service.
The crust on the pizza is the star, buttery and herb filled.
Toppings on the pizza were ample
The super jumbo sub was excellent (according to my wife)
Seasoned fries were good
Now for the negatives:
The sausage sub was inedible. It appeared to be a sausage link cut in half and then grilled, but once I took a bite, something was off. Opened it up and to me it looked like the sausage was undercooked, so I just threw it all away.
The pizza crust was about the only thing good about the pizza. There was a disturbing lack of sauce on the pizza and even the sauce that was on it was very bland. Literally everything on the pizza was bland - toppings, cheese, and dough (except crust).
Mozzarella sticks were run of the mill likely store bought from Costco or Gordon's Food Service would be my guess.
Overall the great customer service and great subs (I'll give the benefit of the doubt about the sausage sub and treat it as an anomaly) would make this place a solid 4, but because of the pizza I brought it down to a 3.
I'll probably try this place again in the future, since I definitely want to support locally owned small businesses, but I'll likely steer clear of the pizza.
As always, great service, great food!
Really good food and friendly owner! Great place to go with family!
Jumbos Sub Shop in whitehall. Pizza was pretty tasty. The ingredients are very fresh. I was really impressed with the crust, which had an herby butteryness to it. The sauce was a bit bland tasting. The toppings were excellent. Fresh tasting ingredients and HUGE chunks of bacon. I also got a Philly sub and it was delicious!
Edit: it was $24 dollars for the 14" pizza and 7" sub.
Good food nice little hometown sub shop not one of the big chains
