Cap City Fine Diner and Bar

This restaurant has diner style decor but had a menu that is a step up. I had the best loaf. This dish was stacked. Texas toast as the base, a thick, generous slice of meatloaf covered by a pile of mashed potatoes and topped with beaded, fried onion strings. This was flanked with steamed broccoli.

Went for dinner for 2 the Saturday after Valentines Day, and it was packed. Sure glad we made reservations otherwise it would have been a 90 minute wait. Even though we had a reservation, it still took about 15 minutes passed our reservation to be seated. Not a huge deal since the place was packed.

Despite the large crowd, the front of the house was very cordial and friendly.

Once seated, our waitress was very friendly. The large crowds and the constant on the go didn’t phrase her at all. Took the time to clearly put out the night’s specials.

I went with scallops with lobster risotto and my wife had the braze short ribs. Both were excellent. The meat from the braze short ribs melted in your mouth. We did try the old bay shrimp cocktail as appetizer which was also delicious.

For a diner, it’s on the pricey side but for the high quality of food you get it’s worth it.

Highly recommend this place. Be sure to make a reservation.

I love Cap City Diner. This place is fun to visit and have the blue plate special, especially on Tuesday night, the chicken pot pie is like no other! The service is top notch and the food is outstanding. Many times we have to give up on finishing the plate, the portions are Cap City sized. Speaking of big, you must get a dessert. The chocolate cake or carrot cake are legendary. So come as you are and enjoy your time with your family and friends.

We had a party of twelve and waited close to an hour beyond or reservation time. Not the fault of Cap City, but the campers who sat for over 3 hours, seemingly oblivious to the fact that hordes of people are waiting.
Cap City made up for it with a few comped apps & desserts, and impeccable service throughout the meal.
Excellent treatment aside, the food is always delicious here.
