Vaccaro's Trattoria

Vaccaro's is one of my favorite Italian restaurants anywhere. I go back to when Raphael and his family had the restaurant on South Arlington in Akron. Real Italian cuisine.

Yesterday, I went there for a casual business meeting and got to try something new. I had the gnocchi and pizza before (both extraordinary) and decided on a Wednesday special of seared scallops w/ lobster meat, spinach, small potatoes, sun dried tomatoes and legumes. The flavor was exemplary because the sauce holding everything together was not watery and kept the individual flavors in tact.

I love scallops and I love lobster but this is not something I would normally get. Once again, Vaccaro's chef proved why quality ingredients and kitchen skill are necessary for consistent quality.

This was an excellent Italian restaurant. Food was authentic and well prepared. Service was friendly and good. Very nice atmosphere. Classy, yet relaxed. Close to the interstate. I would recommend it.

Nice atmosphere. Good food. My child's cheese pizza came out covered with large chunks of onions, we did not order onions. The waiter said that's just how it's made. That would have been nice to know considering it was for a small child. Not a kid friendly restaurant in my opinion but now I know for next time.

The pasta is made here and fresh. If you enjoy genuine Italian this is it. Atmosphere is very personalized. Love the wine list. Hidden gem.
