Florence's Restaurant

Delicious, home cooked food at reasonable prices.

Florence's is locally owned, to boot, and (at the time of my writing this review) the original owner was still working at her beloved restaurant.

You really owe it to yourself to try this place, and you'd be a freakin' idiot to live your entire life without Florence's Boley beans, greens, and fried chicken.

Great food! Mouthwatering! Some of the best food you find in Oklahoma city regardless of price. A must visit when in town. Chef Florence is still in the kitchen making magic happen.

My first real visit at Florence's Restaurant was all I expected it to be. You see, more than 30 years ago, Black Male community leaders ( ministers, community leaders, ect) as well as my family members, would make Florence's a place to break bread and share problem solving techniques. NE 23rd is a historic black community which once thrived with black owned businesses and Florence's served them all. The restaurant is filled with portraits that reflects black culture and the contributions made to making America great the first time ????.
Today, this restaurant still prepares the main staples of comfort foods for the community. Freshly cooked daily, the menu has both sweet potatoes and regular, cabbage, green beans, fresh fish, chicken, meat loaf and more. The wait staff was on point! They really made suggestions for first timers, showed patience and high levels of professionalism. As for the taste, lets just say, Florence's put their foot in it and left the shoe behind. For those who are not familiar this terminology means it deserves a 5 star rating! Before the community becomes GENTRIFIED, stop by and have a little taste of history at it's finest. This was my first dine in experience at Florence's. My group was there for a meeting with State Capitol employee. Service was stellar, employees were considerate and made suggestions for the first timers.
They specialize in comfort foods like yams, collard greens and meat loaf with homemade corn bread muffins.
Florence's is packed with the history and culture of the black community. I'm was pleased to see those from all races and cultures participate in the tradition of breaking bread with your brothers and sisters.
