We had lamb and chicken tagines, they were both insanely delicious!! We also ordered some Moroccan cookies and with no doubt some of the best I’ve had. Sovana was super sweet and helpful. Would definitely go back!
Bought some Chebakia (sesame honey cookie) from the booth at the International Fair by the City of Norman today. I really wasn't expecting to see a "Moroccan cookie" sold there, so I was super excited! It tastes so good in a very unique way, and it's nothing like anything you can get from the States.
For people who haven't tried these yet, it's like a thin pie crust toned down in terms of butter and sugar soaked in honey and sprinkled with sesame. The best thing about this cookie was that it's not one of those overpowering sugar-shock sweetness. The price ($15) was a bit expensive, but I was happy that I invested in the experience. I've had Moroccan food many times in a different country because I loved it so much. But seeing a collection of cookies and desserts was a rare experience for me.
It was really nice of the seller that she cherry-picked the box of cookies with the prettiest shapes! I loved it, and my friend also loved it when he grew up in the countryside of Oklahoma and did not have much international experience with food. I hope I can visit her restaurant in Tulsa someday soon.
Came across this place at Mother Road Market and loved it! The owner Sovana gave us some helpful recommendations on what to order. The lamb rice was especially tasty and their chocolate baklava topped with ice cream is delicious.
Just had the delight in eating this food. The soup was secretly spicy and the further you ate the more it said hello. The goat and rice dish was so tender and moist I will have that again. The olive chicken was also a surprise. The spice set is new to me. Though I had it pegged and was 100% wrong. Amused to learn the basic spice set. Oh so good. Just come and try. 100% will do again.
Went to Mother Road Market for my birthday and came across My Moroccan Oven. Sovana was wonderful to speak with. I chose the baklava because it looked delicious and a traditional dessert she recommended (I can’t remember the name of it, but covered in sesame seeds and honey) and they are both SO GOOD. Very happy to help support local authentic businesses that take the time to interact with customers and create a connection.
Thank you!
