This was our first time dining at Jackalope and we were totally blown away! Everything we had was delicious, from our appetizers of bone marrow and stuffed mushrooms, to our entrees (I had the Halibut cheek risotto and my husband had the rack of elk). Oliver was an outstanding server with just the right amount of attentiveness. We can’t wait to go back!
Meh, for the price I expected something more refined and upscale. Sloppy presentation and lack of attention to the structure of the plate really brought this experience way down! Same mashed potatoes and veg side for every entree? Just a lack of real effort and refinement over all. It's not like the food is bad, but for $$$ prices, very lackluster. Go to a younger spot that still has passion for the cuisine.
Exceptional restaurant. Unique flavors and choices. Sure, you can get a filet or wild salmon, but they have rack of elk and other unusual choices. You can tell they take real pride in their food. Friendly service, big portions, creative cocktails too. On the pricey side, but well worth it for the quality. Would happily go again.

Ambiance:
Overall the place was nice enough. There was a server there with extremely short shorts and it just made us a bit on the uncomfortable side as well ruined the ambiance of fine dining quite a bit. The hostess was nice enough but seemed annoyed for some reason.
Location:
Right next to a parking garage downtown made it easy to access and take a stroll after dinner downtown.
Service:
Our waiter was great. You could easily tell he was in training but he did a great job. He joked when appropriate and checked on us regularly but not overwhelmingly. He catered very well to food allergies and assured us when the food came.
Food:
The taste was great. But ultimately we both felt our dish was... "Underwhelming". My wife left still hungry and that actually says a lot because she hardly eats anything and feel full. The duck tasted great but it looks like they give you a quarter of a breast. The salmon I had was great but honestly I also felt it was lacking. I suppose when you spend that much on a dinner you expect it to be much better proportion wise. So if you go, perhaps try to get appetizer so help.
Also, the veggies were not seasoned at all or cooked thoroughly. So trying to cut a raw carrot with a butter knife? It is quite the challenge without breaking the plate. They did put salt and pepper on the table for us to season to taste but that is such a cop out.
On the plus side, I do love that they source locally.
Price:
After all the above were taken into consideration I took a value of the price and felt it was pretty overpriced. For the same amount I would rather go just down the road to the Brick House or the Blacksmith for a similar dining experience but I would leave filling full.
Always a pleasure to dine here! The courtyard is surrounded by their freshly grown herbs. Whatever Kathy can grow out there, she does so as to provide as many of the freshest ingredients possible. They purchase local, quality meat, and it makes a big difference. Food is great, staff is friendly, and the overall ambiance of this restaurant is just charming. I love that this restaurant can be casual or a place where it's okay to dress up a bit. They have competitive prices to the other 'nice' restaurants in town, but I think their food is better. My only complaint is my favorite dessert there of Bananas Foster is not always available, and when it is, it goes fast! It's that good! 🤤
