“Stayed here end of April 2022 on our Anniversary trip. It was definitely an historic inn with a lot of personality and charm. My grandmother had a house in South Carolina that was built in the late 1890s, so this place reminded me a lot of her house. They have some rooms set up for viewing old photos and paraphernalia from the late 1880s and a typical "Jack London" room decorated as it would be at the turn of the century. There is also a section dedicated to the local "ghost town" of Golden which existed during the mining years starting in 1881. It is worthwhile to take a walk around the hotel and read the articles on the wall to get an appreciation of the history of the Inn. The room we had #8 was pleasant and the bed was comfortable. The water handles in the bathroom sink were a little bit hard to turn off, but other than that, no complaints. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was great! The pulled pork and beef brisket were both very tasty, as well as the chocolate mint brownie. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. The old cash register was very cool and worth a picture. It had buttons for pint, 1/2 pint, and quart, as well as buttons for different dollars and cents amounts. There are not many rooms available for stay, so if you are on the fence, book now as it may not be available when you check back.”
