Zach's Bistro

Zach was super friendly and helpful. We had the tasting menu and all of the seafood dishes were great. The crab cakes have huge chunks of crab and aren't filled with unnecessary fillers and are not greasy/oily. The clams and mussels were in a garlic white wine sauce, which actually allows you to taste and enjoy the seafood, since so many places now smother their clams/mussels in sauces. The steak wasn't our preference, but we aren't from the US, so not sure if it's just a diff type of taste. The cut has more fat and is a bit more oily/less seasoned than our taste. The food is good, but hope this helps guide any decisions on the menu!

It's definitely a fun and slightly different/more personal experience and atmosphere than just going to any typical restaurant. Also, we were able to walk in without a reservation, outside of the set sitting times posted on the window, so if you're just passing by, worth asking if you can get a seat!

Food is amazing! Top of the line gourmet. Even with food allergies, I can safely eat here - and love it. [Not always true for us with allergies.]

However, this was my second visit, and the menu is still confusing. If you go, be ready to ask questions.

Our dinner here was outstanding. Zach is incredibly talented and makes this dinner very personal. This was especially important as we required our food to be gluten free for a very sensitive celiac. We came out of the meal satisfied and with no reaction. This was the best dinner we've had in many years. Thank you so much Zach. We will be making trips back to Newport just for this food

Best meal I have ever had. 6 course chef’s meal with wine paring. Truly speechless and very thankful for the personal experience. There is something special about chatting with the chef as he serves you amazing food and wine that he is passionate about.

I was very excited to try Zach’s and it did not disappoint. The crab cake was exceptional because it was almost all crab. The sprouts on top of cake were sunflower sprouts and I liked their flavor and texture. My entree of wine battered halibut was delicious and there was lots of halibut! The slaw was crunchy and flavored with vinegar. Before our appetizer we were served a slice of Spanish cheese and after the crab cake we were served a chunk of bread with cinnamon flavored butter. Both of these little extras were delicious. After our entree we had a light cheesecake (almost mousse like versus a dense cheesecake texture) topped with cranberries and hazelnut. I enjoyed the dining experience and was happy to find another lovely cafe for my visits to Newport.
