CHUKI'S GRILL

We entered this restaurant roughly 30 minutes before closing. I asked if we could dine in or if we should order take-out. The server was cool about our dining in. We ended up choosing to take-out instead. Despite being cool about our dining in, the server thanked us for choosing take-out, so kudos to her for making us feel welcome, when she kinda wanted to leave ASAP. :)

Anyway, we ate all our food with only the minor issue of lacking silverware, but luckily, we each had backup utensils available, and they sufficed. The food was tasty. And perhaps it goes without saying in the year 2022, but it was, like most places in Portland, a bit overpriced.

Decided to mix things up and try hawaiian barbeque. My wife and I had not really had good experiences with other places. This place really impressed with well marinated and perfectly cooked meats! Beef short ribs was my favorite. Give them a chance if your in the area!

The meals we received were mainly rice. I definitely thought from the price and eating at other Hawaiian restaurants that 1) there would be more meat... literally received some meat over two more mounds of rice. That's one scoop of Mac Salad, 1 scoop of rice, and the entree section of the to go container filled with rice at which point they sprinkle it with meat. 2) That the meat would have some more flavor. It was lacking. No excitement.

All in all, it came warm, the Mac Salad was really good and due to the copious amount of rice, my belly was full (the important part :-/).

Would I order again? Probably not.

But again, the Mac Salad was spot on!!
