Best pasta I've had in Portland. Friendly service and fun atmosphere. Can't wait to come back.
The food was simply amazing. I was lucky enough to enjoy the Beef meatball strogonaff special with smoked king oyster mushrooms. I have no words. The flavors were incredible and so carefully crafted and paired together. I am desperately hoping that this will earn its spot on the menu. I've got to have it again. Thank you so much.
A place that can change your life....yup this is one of them. As an outsider of Portland, living up near Seattle, I wanted to explore the food (truck) scene. During my first visit I found a few Italian trucks/shops and was happy. During a follow up visit Gumba popped up as recommended by Google Maps. Praise the flying spaghetti monster this random event occurred. At the time they were offering a similar small menu as they do today. I was ecstatic a shop focused on a small number of dishes, and I hoped this translated to high quality. After my first bite I was brought back to some food I had in Italy, except this was a bit better. I threw my Italian heritage/pride out the window and said this is the real deal. If you want a meal that will surprise you with every bite, and experience a combination of ingredients to surprise your palate...come here. Clearly I'm emphatically in love with this place and I hope others get to enjoy the experience as well. Side note: follow them on social media for the latest specials and operational time changes.
Loved their food and selection! Everything was made to perfection, al dente pasta, and beautifully seasoned pesto. I asked for no goat cheese or topped egg, which they happily worked with and even offered to make the pesto without cream! Fantastic customer service and wanting to please how I would most enjoy it. Definitely would recommend!
The whole suite of food was entirely amazing. The pasta is flavorful, and lends itself to a harmony of ingredients. Simple, but with a few modern twists to keep things interesting. The olive oil cake might have claimed first place in terms of my favorite desserts in Portland. Moist, not overly sweet, inspired, and interesting to say the least. I will be visiting again.
