McMenamins Courtyard Restaurant

This place has a private parking lot in the back but it also has plenty of street parking. This is an elementary school that was transformed into a hotel and series and bars and eateries.

The courtyard restaurant may be the biggest eatery in the building. I only ordered a drink and cajun tots here. The tots were great. Service was decent. This place can get crowded.

Cute environment with a good selection on tap and on menu. Food was good, but not spectacular. Table services were a bit slow, but very friendly. If you aren't in a rush it is a solid place to eat.

The fish tacos are very good. I had them as a lite breakfast. A mix of fish and shredded cabbage make for a nice crunch.

When we sat down for breakfast there was some nice relaxing jazz playing over the sound system.

Then some opera made its way into the playlist. What was a nice relaxing breakfast turned into an intense drama.

Being yelled at by a fat talion man first thing in the morning before I've had my coffee is a little too much.

Even the servers concur. Stick with the lite jazz.

The place has a great vibe, consistent with the rest of McMenamins (if you’ve been there, you’ll know). Food was quite good, but we’re not talking Michelin stars. Dlextra points for being open early (as opposed to most bars at the location)

Standard McMenamins food - not bad, but not amazing. This particular location could highly benefit from employing some bussers, as the waitstaff is very small and is easily overwhelmed by the large dining room. All of the charming McMenamins art and kitsch, definitely a fun atmosphere. Check out the seating on the patio, too.
