Been going here since I moved to Portland the food hasn't changed yet and is always good. The coney dog is great, they use real potatoes when making fries and they give you a heaping portion of them. Try a shake, any flavor, always good and thick. Good service, small place but they get the food out.
Great spot - reminds me of old school drive-ins. Hot dogs are their specialty and it shows - so great to find a good dog in NE PDX. Fries are sometimes a bit soggy, but portions are plentiful. If they took debit cards I would eat there much more often (who carries cash anymore?).
Amazing. Roakes is that place that's been around for ever and tastes exactly the same way it did 20 years ago. The coney fries are incredible. They look gross but the taste is literally the best "chili fries" I've ever had. The burgers are NOT frozen patties. I'm assuming they mold the patty with their hands. At least on my "wimpy burger" which is a huge burger. The bacon was crispy the cheese was melted. The malt shakes are amazing as well.
I'm giving Roake's 5 stars for quantity over quality. The quality of the food I would give a 3.75, but DAMN! I don't think I've EVER had a burger that big for $5.00. Cool little old place that is looking to get you fed on a budget. I will definitely be going back (Probably in a month or so when I'm not so full).
