Came in right at 7:30am after a run on Mt. Tabor and it did not disappoint. Buckwheat breakfast muffin = like a muffin form of delicious Cracklin Oat Bran. Chocolate cookie with some sort of millet or little seeds in it? Absolutely delicious. Others in my group got avocado toast and the breakfast sandwich. While maybe a little higher priced than I prefer for just a sandwich, it was delicious (red wheat biscuit). There was not a kids play area but there were books and a few toys. We loved watching the bakers work the oven! Will be back.
Everything at Tabor Bread is both down to earth and high quality - the bread, the food, the drinks, the building, and the staff. My wife and I like to have lunch dates there and then pick up day old bread on sale for the week. And, maybe we get some of the baked treats. And, possibly, we get a loaf of the fresh bread. None of which is cheap, but all of it worth every penny.
Bread making 101 class was fantastic! I highly recommend if you want to learn the art of making sourdough. Instructor and staff were wonderful. Very intimate well explained hands-on class.
I was across the street for the weekend, and stopped by here. Fabulous bread! It was worth buying a few loaves and bringing them home. Rich and crispy crusts, hearty but moist and tasty on the inside. I will definitely go back. The bread makes outstanding toast or sandwiches. Great place to stop by after a run in the nearby Mt. Tabor Park.
Great selection of bread. Every time I have been there, it has been very relaxing and quiet. This attracts mostly a relaxed, private crowd that focuses on their own quiet conversations or the food. The staff is professional.
All the bread is made in real life, right there: you can see and smell all the dough in real life, which is an experience you usually don't get in most Portland bakeries. I grew up with a lot of dough in the kitchen all the time (bread for everything except rice). Tabor Bread doesn't bring back memories of the dough: this makes me appreciate how the dough is supposed to be and how it should be everywhere.
The coffee is great too, and self serve. I highly recommend this place, specially after a nice walk on and from Mt Tabor.
