Catfish Lou's

Came here with our whole family. The adults went to see the show and kids were able to play pool. I ordered tacos which were actually really good. The only downside was how long the food took to come out. It took well over an hour, but at least drinks came very quickly. Fun place for pool and live music but expect a wait for food for sure if it’s a Saturday.

This place is fine for what is: bar/restaurant/pool hall caught between mainstream Portland and traditional dive bar. While either the upscale Portland hipster, traditional dive bar or pool hall atmosphere might work, trying to combine all three seems just confused. The food here is actually quite good but basically everything else seems unwilling to commit to a target market. Bud Light is served only in bottles (because the taps are reserved for higher end beers), the decor is a cross between basic low-end bar and fancy cocktail parlor, and the pool hall (which is quite large) feels like a bolt on feature simply because there was a lot of space. Probably worth your time if in the area but otherwise, not something I'd go out of the way to see.

Chris and Chef Duane and very talented at their jobs and are both very personable and friendly. We are in town for a few days and have had half their menu, all of which we greatly enjoyed. With a husband who is an executive chef who has cooked in Japan, Italy and Louisiana (as well as other places), we KNOW good food. This is a great place for lunch and dinner, so don't be shy! They get 1 star off because my feet get cold in the warehouse type building.
