We were really excited tonight for our night out, my husband made reservations weeks ago wanting to treat us to a wonderful, fancy dinner that is a rarity for us.
Upon arrival, giving our name and stating that we have a reservation we were escorted to the bar/lounge and asked if sitting at the bar was okay. I told the hostess that since we made a reservation for dinner we'd like to have a table (there were plenty of empty ones in the restaurant side) so she seated us at a table in the bar/lounge. We thought this was odd and weren't super happy about it but it was just as beautiful so we didn't complain. Unfortunately we soon found out what a different atmosphere it would be. Apparently it's the owners birthday party which they were holding in their "indoor patio" just on the other side of our table, separated by a curtain and "garage door" wall. The folks with this party generally loitered in the bar talking and ordering drinks, blocking the main thoroughfare of the restaurant and restroom access. Needless to say it got pretty noisy especially once they all finally adjourned to the party room but allowed the children accompanying them to bang on their plates and glasses with their silverware. Later tables were shoved together to create a 10 top directly behind us.
Our waitress who was also the bartender was absolutely wonderful. She has excellent service skills, very personable and managed all her responsibilities and patrons expertly. She is what made our dining experience good and why there are 3 stars instead of 2.
The food: for a starter my husband ordered bread and I ordered the wilted bacon salad. The bread was okay, like a soft ciabatta served with olive oil. My salad while it wasn't necessarily horrible it definitely wasn't what I was expecting- a bed of spinach, crumbled bacon, oil with a barely par-poached egg on top and way too much pepper. It was a peppery wilted spinach salad with oil & egg goo. For a meal my husband ordered the grass fed ribeye with a horseradish sauce, mushroom risotto and steak fries. His steak and the sauce along with the mushroom risotto was excellent, the steak fries were more like fat potato wedges which he didn't care for. I ordered a steak with the Barberry Butter (the steak that I couldn't pronounce the name of from the Snake River area, after being assured by our waitress it was the owners favorite and very tender). My sides were the mushroom risotto and delicata squash with hazelnuts. My steak was fairly undercooked and had to be sent back, the outside layer was cooked but the entire inside was soft and raw. This was also not a tender steak cut. The mushroom risotto was delicious, this was by far the best thing we had off the menu. The delicata squash with hazelnuts was just odd. It was cut into whole rings and cooked (I've never had squash skin) with the hazelnuts and again lots of pepper.
For dessert we had the creme brulee which (not printed on the menu) is cinnamon flavored. The cinnamon taste was good as was the top crust but the custard beneath was warm and fairly runny.
We were also disappointed in the lack of wine, beer, alcohol menu compared with what is advertised online.
Overall our service was wonderful, the atmosphere disappointing as was the food and of course it's even more disappointing at the Barberry's price point. It's not somewhere we would return to or reccomend.

Delicious Halibut with risotto, squash with Hazel nuts. The BEST complimentary fresh baked bread with lightly salted crust.

I've been several times the food is always great and the service is nice. Little pricey but to be expected with fine dining. Looking forward to returning soon.

Highly recommend the 3 or 5 course tasting menu. With the two of us, we received different items per course. If you like to share, you should absolutely do it. The wine pairings were perfect as well. I had high expectations, and the food and service exceeded it.
