We enjoyed the rotisserie chicken, plantains, and fried rice. It was simply delicious! The sauces were amazing! This is definitely a place to try. Authentic Peruvian experience. We didn’t try the desserts yet but we will be back.
FANTASTIC!!! Simply delicious!!!!
Meal specs:
1. Rotisserie chicken - Moist, flavorful, crispy skin & a good size. The wing was even edible (not burnt). It was very tasty. Especially considering how hard I am on my evaluations of rotisserie chicken. Usually, I’m not a big fan.
2. Plantains - Cooked fresh. The ends are my favorite. It has a little crispness to it that is wonderful.
3. Peruvian fried rice - It’s rice. Nothing that stood out. It paired well with the black beans.
4. Black beans - Same story as a rice.
5. Veggies - The consistency was spot on. Not too hard and not soft. They made, what I’m sure were, frozen veggies; taste good!
Things to note:
1. Parking - they have signs to avoid parking in the car lot across the street.
2. No bar. However, they have bar-type area to sit at. I’m sure for the future it is designed for a bar with alcohol in mind.
3. Good food for a reasonable price!
- My prayer is that they remain consistent. I really like this place & I hope that they can keep it going.
Shout out to Patrick & Romeo! They are always helpful & welcoming! Everyone is very friendly!!!
This has become one of my regular spots. If you need good food fast - add this place to the list.
Bon appétit 😋
El Pollon delivers an authentic and homemade Peruvian experience unmatched in the Pittsburgh area. The food tastes fresh, service is excellent, and the layout is open and modern. Highly recommend trying this place out, as it’s the best restaurant in Carnegie.
I love food, especially Latin Food. Pittsburgh has come such a long way in terms of Latin Options. I was psyched when I heard we had a Peruvian Restaurant that was serving authentic Peruvian. I had to try it. It did not disappoint and made my whole day. Wow!
The service was great. Everyone was so nice and so attentive. They take pride in their work and what they are putting out there.
I was excited when they had my favorite Peruvian drink chicha morada. I love things that are sweet and it's so good. They also had my favorite entree, lomo saltado (marinated steak, peppers and onions, French fries and white rice). It was so delicious and flavorful. I'll be dreaming about it for a while. My husband enjoyed his half rotisserie chicken, fried rice and mashed potatoes. It was very good.
We loved it, have already told tons of friends about it and will be back. You must try it.
We love Peruvian food and were looking for a new place to try. This place has great atmosphere, relaxed dining, great customer service by Romeo who was patient with us and explained everything. Overall the food here is awesome, the rotisserie chicken is cooked over charcoal and has a nice flavor and is very moist. We had the yucca fries and also fried rice and beans. We also had the tres leches and tiramisu for dessert. Everything was on point and our party of four loved everything. We definitely will be back and this place is in our top 5 places in Pittsburgh to go too.
You have to give them a try, it is a must visit place for sure in Carnegie.
