Food was ok and service was fine, but plastic water bottles and styrofoam containers? Like, it's almost 2020, guys. The bottled water really blew our minds and we went thirsty for much of our meal because we didn't want to ask for another plastic disposable water bottle. I understand Pittsburgh has bad water, but that's the most basic thing to provide. It's a fine place for brunch if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of your way.
All I can say is WOW!!
We were visiting for just one night and a friend suggested Caffé Mona in the morning. I cannot imagine a better start to my morning. The staff was professional & friendly. The atmosphere is incredible. Good coffee. My partner got this huge platter of French toast that he loved. I got an everything bagel with pesto, fried egg, mozzarella, and tomato (Caprese bagel?). I haven't had a bagel that good outside of New York!
If I'm ever back in PA, I will be swinging by Caffé Mona
They serve Stash Tea, which I think is among the worst tea brands, so they lost a star for that. They also brought us bottled water. I saw that many other tables also had bottled water. I can only imagine how much plastic waste they generate by serving all of their customers bottled water. They also charged us for each bottle without telling us ahead of time that they would. I removed another star for that. That aside, we all enjoyed our food as well as the atmosphere. Our server also provided us free cream puffs when we were asked (shortly after we sat down and before we got our food) to move to a smaller table so they could seat a larger party. I appreciated the gesture but it was not enough to earn either star back. Overall, I recommend the food, but if you care about the earth and don't want to be charged for water, you should ask for non-bottled water. If you do that, and if you like Stash Tea, you'll probably give them 5 stars.
The food was fresh, delicious, properly prepared and a great value for the price. I highly recommend it. Indeed best breakfast and brunch place in the town...
Delicious food. Polish hill crepe was awesome. Service and people were friendly and attentive. Bagel with lox was tasty. We will definitely go back to try some more menu items. Great atmosphere inside.
