This diner is relatively unknown by even many folks who have worked downtown for a long time. You need to actually go into the Grant building to access it. It's a standard, old school diner with a pretty large menu serving traditional diner foods. Nothing is super fantastic, but everything I've had has been good to great. It looks like the place hasn't been updated in a long time, which actually appeals to me. I prefer the atmosphere in an old Pittsburgh establishment like this to any of the chain restaurants. Also, there's quite a lot of bar seating, which I also love. Service is quick. I enjoy their omelets and soups a lot.
Food was really good, I ordered a club sandwich. When it arrived it really was big enough to feed 2 and delicious. Service was great and I ended up taking more than half of my food with me in a take out container.
If you're in a hurry don't worry, they are fast and very efficient.
Always a sentimental favorite of mine. But the food is also good. It's like a diner in the business district of Downtown Pittsburgh. Their hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, and chicken wraps are some of my favorite go-tos, and I've not been disappointed. Their salads are pretty good, too. They serve breakfast all day and one of my favorite lunches there was a Belgian waffle with a chocolate milkshake! Loved it. The waitresses, cooks, and even busboys are all very nice and will chat with you like they've known you for years.
The food is decent, but it's hard for some of the staff to explain the preparation of a dish. $$
Great breakfast. Good waffles. Friendly staff.
