I love this place. There aren’t many good vegan spots in Chicago so when I came out here and found this place, it made my vacation. The best prepared kale I have ever tasted and I still talk about it two years later. The prices are decent too.
At this stage of my life I don't like eating at restaurants where I can't hear the other guests in my party talking to me. I enjoyed the food, the appetizers more than the entrees and the desserts were really my favorites. Thinking about whether or not it's on my list to return or not.
LOVED this place! The food was a bit greasy but delicious! I love that it's BYOB, and the desserts are so yummy and affordable. There was a bit of a wait when we got there so plan ahead!
Love these reviews - though have bad luck trying to "eat the food" - stopped in to eat. They only take cash???? in 21st century - 2019?????? - BUT THEY do have an ATM - ok it is a charge to use - but WORSE THAN THAT!!!! ..- the machine was on the blink - didn't give me my cash - went up the street to some convenience store - and that machine didn't work either - another couple was being me - they couldn't get cash either - HOWEVER - I got a CHARGED out of my account for the $60 I asked for that I never got - I contacted my bank and AM STILL!! waiting to get back my $60 (this was over a month ago) - of course my partner and I never ate for we didn't have THE CASH. -- duh? as I said - seemed so cool with a good menu ..but caught in a "time warp" - I am so excited to try the food however. SO I called today to see if they have delivery??? delivery through some modern convenience going on today - which will take a "card" - but alas I get a message they are closed on Tuesday. This makes somewhat irritated but also somewhat thinking - damn this vegan food must be really good and worth the pain. I hope it is worth the pain and wish the business much goodness. I gave a 5 star for I don't want to be rash - sadly reviews only do the star thing - without honest feedback.
We have ALL of our business dinners at Onion Maiden! They are fun, courteous and accommodating. Emailing to make a reservation for the large table up front (that fits large groups) has never been a hassle and is super convenient. It is nice going somewhere as a group where my vegan clients and coworkers can try and eat anything they want without worrying about ingredients. If you are not vegan, this food is still very appealing and welcoming to people of different dietary needs. I highly recommend trying it out!
