Original Oyster House

Walking around the Square in Downtown Pittsburgh.....we did a Lap and came right back to this restaurant. Chose a seat outside under an umbrella overlooking the crowd and happenings of the afternoon. People were walking to the Pirates stadium. A great place to grab a bite and watch everyone stroll by.

Great food. Great service. Great staff. It's a small establishment that has been in downtown since the 1800's. It has a reasonably price menu, as well.

I walked in, sat down and was serviced almost immediately. I was constantly checked on to see if I needed anything. The staff was very personable and accommodating.

So what was wrong that knocked a star off the rating? Two things. First, it is a cash only establishment. I can live with that, but would have liked to use a card instead. Second, and more importantly, the Men's restroom only had urinals. There were no commodes. They directed me to the woman's restroom, since I needed a commode.

All in all, I would still go back and still recommend it to others.

First time in Pittsburgh and heard I had to check this place out. It was good. I got the oyster shooters with a fish sandwich. Did not disappoint. Staff was super responsive and friendly. Ordered quickly and food came out quickly. Would definitely come back if I lived locally.

The cost was fair,quality was as impressive today as it was when l last visited 30 years ago. Also, it's a great place to watch the Pirate's game. It's a Must Stop when you are Downtown
