Bertrand Pittsburgh

We absolutely loved our experience at Bertrand! We're so glad that the owner opened this restaurant after Tartine shut it's doors. The restaurant is located in a little old shopping plaza tucked away on Cochran Road. It's quiet and you can sit out front among the flowers. It is byob which saves your wallet a few pennies if you want to pair your meal with a really good wine. We started with the pate, which was delicious. It was my first time having pate, but my boyfriend has had it many times before and he noted that it was the best he's ever had. He had the scallops and I had the steak au poivre. Both were really good. While we were eating the owner arrived with Bertrand, the restaurant's namesake. He stopped by each table multiple times to talk to his patrons while Bertrand ran around asking for pets. We really enjoyed that personal touch.

Delightful spot to escape to Paris! I love french food and Bertrand's nails it perfectly. Nice menu selection (although no duck!) and reasonable prices. BYOB which is always a plus! Service was great - our waitress was efficient and helpful in making our menu selections. I had the beef bourguignon and it was amazing! The pate was fabulous and our overall dinner was quite pleasant and enjoyable. We got to meet the owner who is kind and friendly and has quite a gem in Pittsburgh's french cuisine scene. We will be back!

Great little gem!!! Food was fantastic: we had halibut and was done to perfection, appetizers too. Service was impeccable as well. At the end of dinner the owner came to check on our dining experience. We got idea where he got his food, how important is for him to have everything fresh ( he was proud to say that he doesn't have a freezer in the kitchen), strictly fresh ingredients!!
We will be back!!!!
