The Original Waffle Shop West

This is my favorite of all of the Waffle Shops. The food is always good and the coffee is always fresh. We went on a Tuesday morning with a party of seven and had about a 3-minute wait. The only downside was that we got crammed into a table that was more appropriate for six people. But overall, I would always recommend this as a great place for breakfast at any hour.

Food was good, hot, plentiful and worth the price. The veggie omelette was great! Homefries we're very delicious. Coffee didn't taste like Starbucks (thank you). Place was clean. All in all, a very satisfying meal.

Popular place for all ages to have a good breakfast. I was in State College for my friends son graduation. The waffle House was suggested as a great place my wife and I could have a good breakfast mean. The meals were incredible. I had scrambled eggs, bacon and waffles w/banana and nuts. I emphasized well the eggs and those came out to perfection. The waffle had to do over since there were no banana or nuts added. The waitress quick recognized the miss and told me she would have it corrected right away. The wait staff and the care the meals are prepared with would make this one of my best breakfast experiences ever. I wish there were many more like this in my state, people and service.

Great service. Good breakfast/lunch food. Salads are made with iceberg lettuce. Servers are very tentative about waters and coffee. The maple syrup tasted a lot like breakfast syrup and not authentic maple. Blueberry and strawberry syrup also offered and were delicious. Home fries are disc sliced potatoes with onion on a griddle. I recommend asking for them “nice and crispy”.

I was told by a Penn State alum that I had to go here during my visit to State College. I wasn't disappointed - the service was fast & friendly, the food was delicious, and the restaurant felt clean and inviting. I ordered a breakfast meal and added a side of corned beef hash (which I highly recommend), and it was still a very affordable check. I ate at the counter, and the server was extremely attentive without being bothersome and checking in too much. I almost gave it 4 stars simply because I had enormous expectations based on the recommendations I had gotten, but that's not the fault of the restaurant. Everything was great, and I really don't have any suggestions of how my experience could have been better. You should definitely check it out if you're visiting.
