The aesthetics and ambiance encountered at Sophusion Fine Dining from the concrete of Lansdowne Avenue is breathtaking. You're literally transported into a luxurious haven.

It happened to be my Birthday Celebration and by indicating that on the reservation, I was met with a Birthday Card signed in gold and confetti on the table. It was a wonderful surprise!

    What was Well Done:

The hostess who greeted us had a beautiful smile and was very welcoming, the ambiance, the Birthday decoration on the table and the R&B playlist that entertained us.

    What We Ate:

Tropical Paradise French Toast - Sweet pea flower creme anglaise, and pomegranate syrup. (5/5)

    Crispy Bacon (5/5)

    Brioche French Toast w/mixed berries
    (5/5)

    Crab Fried Rice (5/5)

    What was Medium:

Truffle Potato Wedges - The flavor was good; however, we expected potato wedges and not steak fries. (3/5)

    What was Blue:

When we arrived and were seated, one of the tables was wobbly. As a result, when the hostess attempted to pour water in my friends glass she spilled it on the table and her pants. She was very apologetic, cleaned up the spill quickly and retrieved a leveler to put under the table leg. It just wasn't a great start.

The service from our waitress was slow, it was difficult to hear her because she spoke low and we had to call her over to clear dishes from the table.

Since I read previous reviews about the oxtail dumplings being delicious, I attempted to order them but they ran out the day before. That then meant the oxtails and grits I was considering as an entree was out and I had to pivot.

    What We Ate/Drank:

    Coffee (2/5)

Calimari - It was super salty and we sent it back with only 2 pieces eaten. We advised the waitress the dish was too salty. We were still charged $19 for an inedible item. (0/5)

Chicken and Waffles - The chicken unfortunately was very dry. (1/5)

Turkey Bacon - My friend asked that it be cooked well done. They served a lot of slices; however, a lot were under cooked. (2/5)

Eggs w/Mystery Cheese - It's never good when the conversation turns to, what kind of cheese is that? The cheese clung to the sides of the dish. We thought it may be Cheese Whiz or Velveeta. A Google search lead us to images that resembled scrambled eggs with Cheese Whiz. I do not consider Cheese Whiz or Velveeta fine dining ingredients. (1/5)

We did not partake in the $7 bottled water or the $9 to $11 Mocktails; however, our check was $178 (20% gratuity is automatically added).

So pleasantly surprised by Sophusion. We went here to celebrate our anniversary. The atmosphere was very classy, simple, elegant. Wait staff was very attentive and knowledgeable.

We ordered the Sweet Chili Calamari, Coconut Pumpkin Soup, Parm Asparagus and Cajun Seafood Alfredo. The soup was my favorite and the calamari was my partner's. Everything was cooked very well, great portion size & delicious. Only note : I wish there was more cajun taste to the cajun seafod alfredo. We managed to have some space for dessert and got the Warm Butter Cake. Only meant to take a few bites but ate the whole thing and regret nothing!

Will absolutely be going back to try more things on the menu. Go check it out!

Made reservations for a Friday night. Didn’t realize it was almost an hour from where we was staying and contemplated on cancelling. Was running late and they moved our time with no problem. I am so glad we didn’t cancel! Arrived to find out they weren’t busy at all. Two other tables were occupied. The restaurant is BYOB.. they immediately brought over an ice bucket for our wine. The staff was friendly. R&b music was playing via speaker system. We had the calamari (8/10), lamb chops (100/10🤤), crab fried rice (10/10), seafood Cajun Alfredo (100/10 😋) and steamed spinach (10/10). The serving of pasta and spinach was enough for me to eat from 3 more times after our visit 😅. The lamb was the best I have EVER had.

The sweet chili calamari and oxtail dumplings were delicious. I tried all of the nonalcoholic fruity drinks and they didn't disappoint. I had the mushroom stir fry and braised short ribs, they both were exceptionally well-prepared. The pumpkin soup was good. I also ordered a side of potatoes and fries for the table and they were also delicious. Now the disrespect showed herself with the desserts and I mean that in a good way. The toffee cake, butter cake, and sweet potato beignets were all giving a ten. This place has a nice atmosphere and I want to catch brunch here..Stay tuned.

I don’t know how this has less than 5 stars. Our experience was nothing short of spectacular. We came 20 minutes after it opened and only the short rib wasn’t ready, which was fine because it was ready by the time I ordered it (around 5pm)! Kimberly was attentive and kind, gave us recommendations, and went above and beyond when I wanted to try two sides but didn’t know which I wanted (so she brought me both to try). The FOOD!!! Chef back there truly cares about how she prepares that food because it was so delicious. I got the short rib and my MERCY, I ate it all. My partner got the Lamb Chops and the portion was so good. Everything about the meal was *chefs kiss*! No complaints.

Try the Purple fusion if you like lychee and ginger, we also got the oxtail dumplings and they were good, I just wish they were a bit more juicy! Can’t wait to visit this spot again. A Lansdowne gem!
