Authentic Sichuan Chinese foods. Reasonable priced. I have lived in central Pennsylvania for over 15 years. I will consider it is the best one in this area

Excellent food. Mt pepper was slowly going down hill as their food was getting saltier and the quality was declining. After about a year I was back in the Lancaster area and wanted some soup dumplings, although it is mistranslated on their menu, they have soup dumplings still! A must have if you havent. Did not break, in the steamer like mt pepper’s did, and chicken and hot chili oil app was amazing along with the shredded beef and mapo tofu.
Highly recommend. Great service as well.

Szechuan Gourmet (formerly Mount Pepper) is a great spot for quality, authentic Szechuanese food in Lancaster! This is definitely NOT the place to get your standard Americanized fare like General Tso chicken, (though it is actually on the menu). Instead you will find delicious dishes like Mapo Tofu rich in Szechuan peppercorn flavor (see attached picture), Chinese garlic eggplant that is succulent and flavorful, or seaweed and spare rib soup that is the perfect warm and comforting antidote to a cold day. The menu is expansive so even if you're not particularly adventurous or spice-tolerant you should be able to find something to your liking. Keep in mind that at authentic places like this food is generally meant to be shared "family style," which means the individual dishes (including sides) might seem more expensive but are large enough for at least 2-3 hungry people. The best way to approach this is to grab a few friends and each order something different, creating a buffet at your own table. :) The ambiance needs some work (some non-fluorescent lighting would be nice), but overall this is a great spot for cuisine that's not always easy to find outside of big cities or China itself!

Szechuan Gourmet is a great new place filling a gap left by Mount Pepper. Szechuan Gourmet is actually better than the former. We ate here over the weekend and were impressed with the quality of food and flavor. After being disappointed in Chinese restaurants from Massachusetts to Sacramento, and Virginia to Philly, especially after Susanna Foo closed years ago, was pleasantly surprised this weekend. We tried the scallion pancakes and pork buns followed by General Tso’s Chicken and Ma-Po Tofu. The chicken was nicely coated and lightly fried and held up to the Tso sauce. We also enjoyed the Ma-Po Tofu that had some good spice and heat, but was not too oily. Definitely will eat here again.
