La Borinquena

I really wanted to enjoy the place more but having eaten Puerto Rican food in Puerto Rico, maybe my bar was set too high. The mofongo was quite greasy. The flavor of the pork was delicious, however the cubes of meat were much larger (so less surface area of that delicious crunchiness) & the meat was not trimmed at all! I know this is probably personal preference--some people like gristle & some people like tons of meat. The tostones were good although I was slightly surprised they didn't come with may0-ketchup. No biggie, it's not hard to whip up at home. The beef empanada was great, while I wished there was a bit more moisture & flavor in the chicken empanada.

We were in the mood for Legit Puerto Rican food and didn't have to board a plane to find this place.....ohmylanta amazing flavor! We had the bbq ribs, traditional rice with gandules (chickpeas), pollo al Horno (baked chicken) and because we were feeling froggy, the made to order, mouth watering Mofongo with chicharron de pollo , which is essentially mashed plantain goodness in garlic sauce and crispy chicken fritters. Delish!!! Friendly staff too!

Best Spanish food EVER!! Service is pleasant as well!

I am originally from out of state. I was looking for a restaurant that serves authentic Spanish cuisine. A lot of locals highly recommended La Borinquena. My husband and I were so excited once we got there. Everything smelled so fantastic and was plated so beautifully we placed a giant order. They made many things we requested to complete our order right in front of us. The place is sparkling clean. The customer service is amazing. Lee, the woman that handled our order got it perfectly. She worked extremely hard to complete it (including making a few dishes ready for us) and the food was the most delicious. The owner Carmen is very kind and approachable. The restaurant has resemblance to beautiful island decor. The portion size is extremely generous. Everything is extremely fair priced. The best thing is they can cater. Large portions for parties, family meals or individual plates. They have everything you need. We will be frequently ordering from these amazing professionals. I highly recommend this place.

The food is amazing here. It has the love and quality of grandma's cooking. The portions are filling for the price. I eat here as often as I can because I know I'm getting healthy home cooked quality meals. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a healthy choice for the price of a McDonald's meal.
