From the ambiance to the food, this place is great. I’ve been here a few times but tonight we came by just to have dessert after dinner. It was amazing per usual. We had a couple cocktails from the bar, cappuccino with Kailua, cannoli cake, peanut butter and chocolate cake and chocolate chip cheesecake. This place is a must go if you are in Philly.
I ordered the Veal Piccata for my entree and I'm glad I ordered a side of pasta. The veal does not come with a side. If you're hungry, it won't be enough. Which is great because the portion size is just right. You don't walk out completely stuffed. One last item...make sure to bring your wallet.
Locals steer visitors looking for good Italian food to Saloon on the south side, and with good reason. For both ambience and cuisine, it’s hard to get more authentic than this. The corner door opens straight onto a bar, and a maitre d’ who could be Paulie Walnuts’ brother mans the welcome podium.
Customer service was excellent. It's like they knew when you needed something before you asked. The restaurant was very clean. Even the staff was clean cut. And how they dressed brought a sense of respect to the restaurant and the customers. For the one day my wife and I felt like the value of are hard earned money was worth spending. And left very happy reflecting on how we enjoyed our time at the Saloon.
italian food, yeah, quality stuff. Service is prompt even when they are busy.
