Outstandingly mediocre. No corkage policy. Owner claims people were bringing in wine on the restaurant's wine list. Fine - ban that but not a bottle of 2007 Scarecrow that I brought. Want to charge $50 for corkage - fine. Not only did the policy mean that I won't go back, neither will any of my dining companions. Then there is the negative publicity that four people can discuss. There is no reason to go to this restaurant.
I used to pass by this place many times, but whenever it came time to go eat, I'd forget I wanted to try this out. Finally remembered, and I am so glad I did! The bread pudding is excellent, as is the wild mushroom ravioli. There is also a coconut rum bread pudding for dessert that is absolutely delicious (especially when paired with the coconut ice cream!).
The restaurant itself is cute and cozy, the wait staff is very nice (shout-out to Kim!), and we even got to meet Linda herself. A great experience all around, and I've been there three times so far. I had no idea that bread pudding could be so amazing!
The ambience and aesthetics were excellent, very romantic, quaint, and warm. The food is another story, average at best, perhaps even good, depending on what you order, but the price was steep for what you get. I ordered a filet which was cooked to my liking but was accompanied by a smattering of carrots and that was it. I don’t mind a simple serving, in fact I prefer it, but price accordingly. I found the service to be acceptable but not outstanding, although the night I was there only one server was present and she seemed to handle the two large groups and my small table well. Would I go back? Yes, but don’t show up hungry.
Food is great. Ambience is great. Owner and staff are wonderful folks. Great location. 4 stars for price...a little much. We'll go back. Recommend everyone try it, and make your own judgement on prices.
Linda's Bistro is my favorite restaurant in Aiken. My husband and I have attended 3-4 wine dinners here and have always been impressed by Linda's palette for pairing wine with foods. It is always such a treat! Tonight, was our anniversary, which I was surprised to note while making the reservation, and to my surprise and delight, our dessert course was presented with an acknowledgment of our special day! Linda and her staff provide exceptional service and attention to detail, which results in an incredibly enjoyable experience!
