Great place. Service was awesome. Beer and food was awesome. Felt like Chuckie Cheese. Please keep the kids off the bar

First time going here with great expectations as Holy City Brewing is my favorite brewery in Charleston! I got a sandwich; it was the Italian which was tasty but hardly filling. The beer was a Springbok Brown which was good, just not my favorite coffee inspired beer. Service was great by the tallest bartender, whose name I cannot remember, I apologize but he was great.

It's a neat place and the outdoor patio was really nice, but the pizza was just okay. We ordered the pistachio pizza and it sort of lacked substance and just wasn't that flavorful. We left wishing we had gone to mellow mushroom or coastal crust.

The food is delicious, but apparently you have to be an AMERICAN to have a beer there... our server tried to refuse service after being presented with a Mexican passport as a form of ID. He spoke in a very condescending tone and explained that this is how it is everywhere in Charleston, you have to have an ID issued by the American government. We tried to explain that he was wrong, because if that was the case no foreign tourists would be ever served a drink, so he said he’ll go check with his manager. Comes back and requests to check the validity of the US visa. Border patrol turned Baker and Brewer server for the night? Embarrassing and discriminatory. The visa was valid, of course, so he starts to explain that he will serve us, but we need to be careful. Careful with what? We are not criminals, we were just tying to get a couple of beers. At this point we requested to talk to a manager and told the server we will not be staying. The manager handled the situation well, apologized, convinced us to stay, got us drinks and a dessert, explained that the server hasn’t been trained on foreign ids. The manager did make the whole experience better, but I’ll think twice about going back...
