PizzaVola Express

We have ordered takeout twice, both times large pizzas with custom toppings. The first time the pizza was overcooked and the crust was stiff and the toppings dry. Second time the cook was fine but the toppings a little sparse and the crust a little thicker than you would expect on a New York style pizza. Taste was fine. Overall, it’s a good pizza but a tad expensive and not as good overall as Crust or Tolli’s. We give it 3 1/2 clams on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale

Finally stopped in and tried this place for a late lunch. I was glad to find a slice of Sicilian for a change around here. They had grandma slices and multiple other New York style slices. I tried the pepperoni roll too this day but it wasn’t for me. I thought the Sicilian was good and asked for extra sauce to put on top. The sauce wasn’t really that bold in my opinion. It’s a mild flavor. I’ll be back again for the Sicilian and to try the grandma’s slice. Definitely worth a try if you’re in the area.

I live less than a mile from here and have been wanting to try this place. I’ve read great reviews and heard people say nothing but good things. So here I am putting in my two cents while I’m still eating because I’m that impressed and it’s that good!!! My son had spaghetti and meatballs and he immediately said I’m not sure I will like that giant meatball. I convinced him to try it and one bite and he is sold. He loves it and already devoured his plate. I also ordered a pizza and fettuccine Alfredo as I couldn’t decide. Both are absolutely fantastic and plenty of leftovers! Well worth the money and it’s so close!! Please don’t ever leave James island because I would be heartbroken! ❤️

1st visit was a success. We ordered the Spinach and Artichoke pizza. It was definitely authentic NY pizza. The crust had a nice chew. I don't know how else to describe it. I will be going back to try a plain cheese and see how the sauce tastes. I was also pleased that unlike most places around here, they did not burn the bottom. I hate burnt pizza.

The Pizza is infused with the Sicilian spirit. You can taste that the pizza had come from a long line of family recipes...

The sauce is rich and steams with authenticity! The crust is crisp and airy to say the least.
