Poe's Tavern - Sullivans Island

Why can't I get fresh jalapenos?? You have them and they're like what, $0.39 per pound? Charge me and I'll gladly pay for them. Burger was awesome and the fish sandwich was good. Great spot after the beach, but you need to get there early!

I've been visiting Charleston pretty regularly for the better part of the past 20 years (visiting friends and family that live in the area), and Poe's is one of the places I've gone back to time and again. The food is always amazing, and there's just something about the vibe and feel of the place that's really inviting. Burgers and fries are definitely the stars at Poe's, though I've been told that the fish tacos are really good also. I don't get to come here that often, so I just haven't been able to veer away from the burgers. Most recently, I had the burger topped with buffalo fried shrimp, and it was fantastic. My wife had the burger topped with a crab cake, which was also incredible.

If you come on a weekend or during popular vacation times, expect to wait a bit, though I don't think we've ever waited more than 20-30 minutes. Parking on Sullivan's Island can also be a bit hectic, so be sure to bring plenty of patience if you're driving. In the end, you'll be sure to leave happy and full.

Wonderful themed tavern for the Poe lover in everyone. Our experience was wonderful due in part to an amazing man named Taylor. He was friendly and happy in spite of standing outside in the Georgia heat, interacting with customers and children with a smile on his face during an extremely busy rush. When we were looking at the shirts he went looking numerous times for shirts/sizes for us. He truly made a great experience even better. He deserves a raise. His professionalism and kindness is a rarity, and you truly have a fantastic employee who clearly loves his job and customers. I will come back for the ambiance and food for sure, but Taylor makes the 3 hour trip even more worth it. Keep up the fantastic work.

Burgers were amazing. Place was packed. Server was awesome. It was warm inside but a cold drink helped. Food was a little slow to come out. Would recommend going here!!

First and foremost this place gets very busy and parking is very limited. Personally I suggest an off time during the week if you want to get in timely. Service here was fantastic. Burgers were great, they are charbroiled burgers so they have that charred "backyard burger" taste. I love it some might not. Sweat tea was excellent (self proclaimed sweat tea connoisseur here lol). The decor is great, the walls play homage to POE and is... "quirky". Not the best food I've ever eaten but it was very good and the location made it even better. I do recommend stopping by if you are in the area, I know I will.
